I recognize that we continue to attract residential visit various Americans.

Back in Amarillo, in our journey coast to coast by the United States retook the Old Historic Route 66 west, which do not leave until Phoenix in Arizona and, later, we return to its end at the pier of Santa Monica , Los Angeles in California.

Route 66 in this area share routes with Interstate 40. After losing some time, for real this time, we finally find the exit of the famous Cadillac Ranch Amarillo.

This is a place where there are half-buried in the ground ten old Cadillac cars. To find them, you indicated that you will find on the south side of Route 66 (I 40), about 9 miles west of Amarillo.

The Cadillac Ranch was built in 1974, following the idea and directed by Stanley Marsh, a millionaire thanks to the helium industry and owner of the wheat field full of dust which are placed those Cadillac.

Marsh and The Ant Farm, a San Francisco art collective, assembled used Cadillac representing the Golden Age of American cars (1949 to 1963).

The 10 cars, decorated with graffiti, are half buried by the front, facing west “at the same angle as the pyramids of Cheops.” This spot, whose access is free, has gained much fame, and the ground you will see many cans of paint graffiti. It was an experience say that “funny.”

We ate at a Dairy Queen route, establishment exclusively staffed by ladies of a certain age, all very nice.

We continued our route and arriving at Santa Rosa, we tour the town.

Santa Rosa is primarily a transit and rest. The population is small and has about 500 inhabitants residents. There are plenty of motels, hotels and restaurants, as it is half a tourist be on Route 66.

Then we also visited Santa Rosa Lake, about 10 miles from the town, a beautiful place.

After 5 days and 4 nights we left Texas, which we really liked. It occupies a vast plain and generally note the high economic level.

Texas takes you back a sense of spaciousness, long road, quiet, few cars, peace, harmony in the environment of a beautiful and generous nature. In some parts of the route are extracting oil pumps, which channel them towards a system carrying around storage tanks.

As a small anecdote about the day in the museum shop of the Palo Duro Canyon a woman has struck a bestial cry at the thought that he had brought in a picture that I was doing. He has apologized very much. As I said not to worry, that nothing happened, which would make another picture.

Her husband said that the cry had scared everybody, which was true: we had a terrified.

Today we covered the first 3.000 miles (4.827 km) trip. Great day, clear, sunny, hot, but nice.

Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo is located in Thurmont Maryland. This small zoo is home to 600 animals in an area of 50 acres. Admission is $ 13.95 and $ 3.00 can buy food to feed the monkeys, ducks, llamas, alpacas and other animals are.

The truth is I thought I found a few animals and tour the zoo in an hour, but no, I spent over 3 hours watching the animals on display and I even ride a camel ($ 4.00) that was what I liked most. The zoo is divided by areas: Madagascar, Australia, Latin America, North America and Africa also has a variety of animals such as lions, Bengal tigers, camels, aligators, bears (sun bears are called), cobras, anacondas, etc..

Apart from wildlife to see too appreciate the shows that occur at certain times of the workers, so when feeding the alligators could converse with the person in charge and watch the animals devour the dead mice that were given, there are talks monkeys, lions, reptiles and others, there is also a show where they let you touch certain animals, I touch a baby crocodile and a chinchilla you could also touch a snake and a parrot but there were many children in the queue.

The zoo is located in front of a state park (Cunningham Falls State Park) and about 10 minutes from the Catoctin Mountain Park.

You’ll have plenty of choices at this four-season resort area: fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, biking and golf, among them.

Once temperatures drop (usually in mid to late November), there’s ice fishing at the lake. That’s also when skiers and snowboarders arrive at the Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort. For something different, try snow tubing — Bear Claw Snow Tubing Park has seven 800-foot long tubing lanes. Want a more leisurely outing? Antique shops, a microbrewery and a winery are not far away.

Located in a river valley in “Mountain Maryland” – the Appalachians in Allegany County – Cumberland is an historic town (27 listings in the National Register of Historic Places) that has evolved into a vibrant arts community. A new Arts and Entertainment District is the cornerstone of a revived downtown section.

Stroll along Cumberland’s brick-paved streets and take note of the town’s varied architecture, reflecting styles of the mid-19th century to the early 20th century. You’ll discover an abundance of antiques shops, boutiques, galleries and dining spots. The Cumberland Theatre, opened in 1987, presents live performances.

Canal Place Heritage Area, at the western end of the C&O Canal, showcases the heritage of this former railroad hub. It also features an enticing mix of retail, galleries and recreation. Boat rides on the canal and excursions aboard an old-time train powered by a steam locomotive are available from Canal Place.

The “Trestle Walk” at Canal Place connects the restored Western Maryland Railway Station – home of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Allegany County Visitor Center – with the C&O Canal Tow Path, where you can begin an invigorating hike or bike ride.

By the way, George Washington really did sleep here.

More Civil War battles were fought in the Capital Region than anywhere else in America.

Civil War Trails across Virginia and Maryland bring the stories of these battles and those who fought them to life on the very grounds were the action took place.

Walk in a soldier’s footsteps across the battlefields of Virginia and Maryland, attend Civil War related events, or don 1800s garb and take part in a battle reenactment. Visit the many historic churches, homes, museums and cemeteries while making your way along the trails.

In Maryland, the Civil War is best explored in the footsteps of generals, on the heels of an assassin and by understanding the stories of the citizens who survived the conflict. Four carefully mapped driving tours link together a collection of both well-known and less-known sites from Baltimore City, throughout the Chesapeake Region, Southern Maryland and into Western Maryland.

* Antietam Campaign

Follow the routes of Union and Confederate soldiers in September 1862 as they marched through Maryland toward what would be the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest single day of battle in American history. The route begins with Robert E. Lee crossing the Potomac River into Maryland at Whites Ford, then moving quickly toward Frederick, through Middletown to South Mountain and on to Antietam battlefield.

* Gettysburg Campaign

This trail encompasses both invasion and retreat: Cavalry Tour, Union Advance Tour, Confederate Advance Tour and Retreat Tour.

* Booth Escape Route

Follow an interpreted driving tour along John Wilkes Booth’s escape route from Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC (April 14, 1865) after shooting President Lincoln, to the location of his capture and death in Virginia 12 days later. The tour follows Route 5 out of Washington into Maryland then joins US 301 South into Virginia. Nine Civil War Trails signs mark significant stops on the route.

* Baltimore Region

This Civil War Trails tour covers the Baltimore city story as well as area themes involving African Americans, the all-important railroads and a variety of activity on the northern shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

It served as the gateway to the West for early settlers. Follow the path of history and enjoy the natural beauty of Maryland’s Historic National Road.
Day 1

Casselman River Bridge State Park
The Casselman Bridge was built is 1813 and at 80 feet was the longest single span stone arch bridge of its time. Located near the bridge are historic buildings circa 1800 moved to the site from other locations in Western Maryland. The buildings have been restored and house the “Spruce Forest Artisan Village”, the Penn Alps Restaurant and Stanton’s Mill, a working grist mill.

LaVale Toll House
The only remaining toll house in Maryland.

Rocky Gap State Park
Rocky Gap State Park beckons guests eager to enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, cycling, hunting, even golfing.

Cumberland
In 1806 Congress chose Cumberland as the starting point for the “Cumberland Road” which eventually became part of the National Road. Be certain to visit Canal Place which offers canal boat replica tours, scenic rail excursions from the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, shops, galleries, festivals, hiking/biking and the Cumberland Visitor Center.

City of Frederick
Settled in 1745, Frederick’s 50-block historic district and is home to more than 25 museums and historic sites.
Day 2

New Market
A colonial rest stop founded in 1793. During the heyday of the National Pike New Market was a popular stopover for travelers. Today it’s known as the antiques capital of Maryland.

Ellicott City
The three Ellicott brothers operated two flour mills on the Patapsco River. As a result of the network of roads the Ellicott brothers either built or financed, Ellicott City became the largest flour milling center in the colonies. Visitors to Ellicott City are intrigued by its pre-Revolutionary War history, narrow streets, brick and stone buildings and granite cliffs.

City of Baltimore
The National Road begins and ends at the Port of Baltimore located on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

The main objectives of the course were to know the cloud forest and its importance in the ecosystem and the barrel of Huancabamba, located in the National Park. In addition, identify the major rivers of the watershed and the species most characteristic fauna and flora, sensitize the group on the impact of human activities in the watershed, and learn from the efforts of students and teachers of the school Tupac Amaru Pozuzo in the field of environmental education.

At the conclusion of the event were distributed to the winning students a diploma for having excelled in the completion of the environmental panel and they pledged to disseminate within their schools what they had learned during this field trip.

padding:5px"width="200"height="225"/>This is a beautiful park! We saw two games against the Yankees in order in August, games and the # 7 and # 8 on our baseball road. Parking was hilarious with Yankee fans and people supporting both teams made much noise in his silly but thanks to the Opposition. 40% of annual appearance Orioles come to Yankee games and Red Socks – so you can imagine the excitement. Fans were very active, and gave us “the wave” going at a speed that was incredible.

We sit in 200 level seating (club level) where you have menus and waiters who carry the food and drink, and numerous semi-exclusive options if you’ll get out of your seat. The second night, we sat in field level seats that were just as well. Seats a little tighter than the Club level, but the views were so clear of the stadium, the store building and Baltimore skyline.

We take the stadium tour (reserve in advance) and our guide, Mary, was incredible. A Baltimorion and obsessive fan, she spouted facts about the people, the park, the hall of famers Ruth and I were very entertaining. For example, so I know that there are two Owls in the stadium to help keep bothersome birds away —¡¡ to look, they are always there.
