Anyone looking to take a vacation in a world-class city with well-known museums, art galleries, theater, fashion, upscale shopping, plus interesting tourist attractions will have a difficult time deciding between New York City and Paris, France.
New York City in divided into five separate boroughs, each is a city in it’s own right. Most of the major tourist attractions however, are located in Manhattan, which to New Yorkers is considered “the city”. Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building and Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Broadway, and the Guggenheim Museum. Manhandle exemplifies most people’s idea of New York, it is home to the majority of the city’s tall skyscrapers.
In New York, there are a number of upscale hotels, which have a reputation of being very expensive, The reputation is well deserved, although there are a few budget hotels available. Manhattan is the most expensive of New York’s five boroughs, with the Upper East Side hotels costing the most money. The luxury is simply incredible though, and worth every penny if you want to splurge.
Paris is also an incredible city if you’re looking for museums, shopping, culture, historic architecture, and fine dinning. The most popular attractions in the City of Lights are the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre museum, and Notre Dame cathedral. Like New York, Paris is dotted with upscale hotels and restaurants, but being an older city with a long, rich history, Paris hotels tend to be in more historically significant buildings and equally as pricey as the hotels in New York City. Both cities have accommodations ranging from one to five stars so there is lodging to suit any budget.
Both cities are perfect for a cosmopolitan vacation with more museums, attractions, shopping, and dinning than anyone could experience in just a few short weeks. The main difference between the two is the atmosphere. Paris is for lovers, it’s a romantic city. New York is faster-paced, with a more business oriented attitude. Both cities are so large that finding a smart hotel close to major attractions will not be difficult, and will provide memories to last a lifetime.

The Eiffel Tower is without doubt one of the most recognizable structures in the world. Designed in 1889 by Gustave-Alexandre Eiffel for the Universal Exhibition, the tower was never meant to be a permanent structure. Many people didn’t even like the tower. If it wasn’t useful for radio antennas, it would have been dismantled and sold for crap. At the time it was built, the Eiffel Tower was the world’s tallest building. And now the world realized skyscrapers were possible to build. It’s this kind of information that makes behind the scenes Eiffel Tower tours so interesting.
Not only will you be accompanied by an expert guide on behind the scenes Eiffel Tower tours, you will get to skip the impossibly long lines to get right up to the second level of the tower. There you’ll get access to the original engine room which still controls the elevators. Paris abounds with amazing attractions and landmarks but none dominates the city like the Eiffel Tower. It can be seen from 40 miles away.
There are several Eiffel Tower tours which can be purchased online, depending on your interests but the behind the scenes look at the Eiffel Tower’s inner workings is the only tour than the men find just as interesting as the women. Steel, engines, and an immensely tall building. What’s not to like?
